The Book-Ish Series:

Being in the nation’s capital, we can’t help but nerd out over politics, the sciences, and cultural phenomena. Book-ish is our series of fusion seminar/wine tasting classes that are centered around a niche subject and how it relates to the wine in your glass. Trust us – you’ve never been to a wine class like this before. Taste wine, enjoy nibbles, and learn something new!

The Dark Side: Where Human Rights and Wine Intersect

What is Fair Trade wine? Why in the world would anyone ever boycott grapes? Drawing on South African, Californian, and European examples we will unpack labor rights and realities for vineyard workers.  We will taste through five wines made with consideration for ethical labor practices. Light bites will be provided and class will be set to Folk Rock.
