The Modern African-Inspired Cuisine Of Bim's Kitchen

By West Africa Cooks, 13 October, 2012

West Africa cooks first heard of Bim's Kitchen back in March 2012, established by Bim (James) and Nicola Adedeji to share their love of African spices and ingredients. The family business based in Palmers Green, North London has received a lot of praise from celebrity chefs and restaurateurs since starting up. Their motto is Modern, African-inspired cuisine. They have unique handmade African-inspired sauces, condiments and spice mixes which all go very well with fish, meat and vegetables. All are suitable for vegetarians; all but one for vegans and many have no gluten-containing ingredients. Does the country of Nigeria have theses delights?

Their products are now stocked by a growing number of great independently owned delis, butchers and farm shops. Check out their list of UK stockists and International stockists. They are also available online in value double packs with free delivery at Amazon.co.uk. They have been awarded a bursary by the BBC Good Food Show to showcase their products in London.

Their approach is a pretty unique- all our own-recipe products turn tasty, interesting and unusual, mainly African spices and other ingredients (like baobab fruit, alligator pepper, cubeb, melon seeds and hibiscus) into more familiar and easy to use end products. Hence their range includes an award-winning BBQ Sauce (Hot, Tangy BBQ Sauce, Gold Star Winner at the 2011 Great Taste Awards) and hot sauce (Smokin’ Red Hot Sauce, Two Gold Star Winner at the 2011 Great Taste Awards); curries made from beans and nuts (May's Editor's Choice in Delicious Magazine) as well as chickpeas and melon seeds (egusi); a chilli and a pepper jam made with baobab fruit and a tasty relish made with coconut and birdseye chillies.

Bim's Kitchens products have won Great Taste Awards. They received 2 Gold Stars for our African Lemon, Garlic & Pepper Sauce and a Gold Star each for their Spicy African Ketchup, Baobab Chilli Jam and African Bean & Nut Curry Sauce.
