Join us on Friday 6th of April to help fund the education of Zaina and Fredrick in Tanzania.
Kate and Ray are a local family in Bungendore who have been sponsoring the education of their niece and nephew in Tanzania since their mother died in 2010.
Recently Kate, Ray and their boys returned for a visit to Tanzania. Whilst there they visited Zaina and Frederick at their schools. It was clear that they weren’t happy due to the corporal punishment they endure at these schools. This of course was heart breaking as they don’t want them to live in fear.
50% of the population in Tanzania are under 25 years of age. The youth are struggling big time in this poor African country. Education is key and Kate and Ray wish to give them the best opportunity possible to get out of the poverty cycle.
Thankfully with the help from some wonderful people in Tanzania they have changed their school. They are now attending the Arusha Meru International School under the umbrella of the Arusha Educational and Cultural Society. This school has a reputation for pastoral and academic care for the children.
Zaina and Frederick will start boarding at this school in August.
The dilemma, however is that the new school is more expensive.
This is where you can help by joining Kate at Food Lovers Market on Friday 6th April for a curry night. There will also be raffles. All the profits of the night will go into Zaina and Fredrick’s school fund.
If you can’t make it on the night please leave donations at Food Lovers Market. Also Phil's Emporium Op Shop will have generously offered to donate the profits from all sales that happen on this night they are open from 5 until 7pm!
