During the Trans-Atlantic slave movement, African slaves were taken to the Caribbean, South America, and the American South. Along with our African ancestors came the seeds for many of the foods you eat today.
Over time, the diet of the African culture has been mostly lost from its traditional and multicultural ways of eating, which included a mostly plant-based lifestyle with an abundance of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and herbs and spices. Today, the standard way of eating is generally high in fat, sugar, and sodium.
My Ancestors’ Table was created to reconnect you with these foods as a celebration of culture and wellness.
