We will enjoy an outdoor picnic and complimentary wine tasting with a live Latin jazz concert in the background. Music: Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loca 5 pm | Sat, September 1, 2018 Vocalist Ricardo Lemvo has established himself as a pioneer with his innovative music. Lemvo's blend of Afro-Cuban rhythms with pan-African styles (soukous, Angolan semba, and kizomba) has been described by the Los Angeles Times as “seamless and infectious.” This Congo-born artist of Angolan ancestry is the embodiment of the Afro-Latin Diaspora, which connects back to Mother Africa via the Cuban clave rhythm.
We will sit on blankets under the sun and the stars as we enjoy the mild LA weather. We will pair a flight of wines from an esteemed collection of 26 award-winning wineries that span 17 generations of winemaking. Enjoy premium wines from Raymond, Buena Vista, DeLoach, JCB and more These rare, small production wines will be paired with an assortment of meat, cheeses, crackers, fruit, and chocolate. Guests will be treated to a traditional sit-down fun and educational wine tasting. We will be surrounded by a multicultural group of jazz lovers. For 20+ years, Jazz at LACMA continues to be one of the museum’s most recognizable (and beloved) programs. It's a celebration of L.A.’s finest jazz musicians, making it a true L.A. rite of passage. Feel free to be camera-ready to take pictures during the wine tasting and at the iconic LACMA lights!
Location: On Saturdays, you can find our group on the grass on a BIG red and white picnic blanket on the grass on the right side of the stage (if you are facing the stage) off 6th street for Latin sounds.
What should guests do before they arrive? Please email or call Tiffany once you book and give her your cell phone #, so you can easily communicate prior to the event and look out for an email from Tiffany.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Guests of any age are welcome to attend the picnic and jazz concert, however, guests must be 21 years of age or older to drink alcohol. Children under the age of 2 are complimentary (just let the organizer know in advance).
What about non-wine drinkers?
This picnic is fun for non-wine drinkers because if you let the organizer know 48 hours in advance, then she can mix up some fresh and fruity non-alcoholic drinks for guests of all ages.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? Where do I find the group?
LACMA is an entire city block so they have underground parking off 6th street ($16). LACMA is also surrounded by metered parking ($1/hour), free parking and other parking lots. There is also a lot near the corner of 6th st. and Curson (Approx $10). . If you use Uber/Lyft, have them drop you off at the gates on 6th street ideally or you can just walk thru from Wilshire too!
What can I bring to the event?
Since it’s a picnic, even though food is provided by the organizer, you’re welcome to bring personal food of your choosing that fits your dietary needs and alcohol is also allowed at the venue (for private tasting before or after the event). I suggest that guests bring a jacket, sunscreen, and bottled water to enjoy the transition from day to evening. Because they have live Latin sounds you may want to bring your salsa shoes, extra water, and a towel if you plan to dance/sweat
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
You can email any questions to Tiffanybradshaw@gmail.com or call toll-free in the US 866-219-8558
