Reasons Why You Should Visit An African Restaurant
We face a crossroad in the West African diaspora. First generation descendants are not passing on the food, recipes and cooking skills to the next generation now between the ages of 21 and 35. This is the age of reproduction. So this generation is producing children whom do not have the skills or only eat the food of their grandparents very infrequently. With a whole generation of West African descendants who do not know this rich culture and who have not acquired these cooking skills the knowledge will be lost as our enslaved ancestors did when transported, unless a successful recovery operation is undertaken now. OK I maybe taking this is a bit over the top, but food cooked or made by African descendants is culture and history alive.
No African Restaurants On The Map, What Can I Do?
Whether you are in the America's or Europe. Take a look at the city guide book. There is every restaurant from American, to Chinese, Indian and Italian. Where are the quality African restaurants? They are out there, it is time they had more support.
Get yourself a yelp account and review these restaurants. This is the only way to improve them or send them packing. Reviews can make or break a business and only a small amount of people decide the fate. If a business has 30 reviews, I believe you can believe half of them so 15 are real ones. If a restaurant has a thousand customers per year that is calculated at 0.15% of customers making your mind up. Wow... Get reviewing and Happy Valentine's day. Please send in your comments.
