Welcome To West Africa Cooks!

By Nadia, 9 June, 2011

West Africa Cooks is a food laden lifestyle magazine creating a one stop shop for everything that you need to know about West African Cooking. West Africa Cooks aim to inspire and bring together a cooking community that lives in the Diaspora and beyond.

My name is Nadia Maddy and I am a writer. My debut novel The Palm Oil Stain will be out this summer 2011. I am excited to be a part of the West Africa Cooks family and cant wait to entice you each week with news of recipe's, featured restaurants, healthy tips, debate, catering companies, import and export, supermarkets and lets not forget our featured Chefs! We are bombarded daily with Chefs on TV from around the world but I have yet to be introduced to any African Chefs or even Chefs of African origin.

West Africa Cooks will help you find the recipe's that you have been looking for or that you forgot about. I will be discussing the differences and variation in food in the different regions of Africa, the history behind what you eat for dinner or on Saturday afternoon, what is good for you and what you should be avoiding if you suffer from Diabetes and other long term illnesses. I will be asking the question why do West African Restaurants in the West look like the back of someone's house and why does the celebration and presentation of West African food still leave a lot to be desired? We will be discussing the problem of West African food only referring to Nigerian, Ghanian, Sierra Leonean and sometimes Gambian food. As you know, there are many countries in West Africa and it's time we break the mould and discover what a variety West African food has to offer!

I look forward to all your emails and comments in this new venture
